MOD / Fujitsu: Integration of Cyrusnet & ChoTs IT Systems
The MOD planned to integrate Cyrusnet and ChoTs IT systems into 1 system to enhance communications in Cyprus. As Information Security Manager, project managed migration and transition of systems. Engaged early with Fujitsu to assist with administration; migrated mail and assigned correct level of access; managed file transfers; conducted IMPEX tasks copying of information onto CD to install and transfer on new system; created / transferred SharePoint; and ensured project adhered to SYOPS and MOD IT security. Successfully established 1 IT command system on Cyprus, enabling direct connection to MOD command in UK.
MOD, Africa: VHF/HF Communications Project
The MOD deployed to Africa and issued VHF/HF communications equipment that was insufficient. As J6 CIS Manager, engaged with Motorola and PJHQ with business case to procure, deliver and operate PMR system. Researched initiative with Motorola; submitted business case to PJHQ to fund equipment; organised delivery and fitting of vehicle communications from remote location; coordinated encryption fills for radios and tested systems capability within extent of AOR; and planned replacement of equipment. Successfully increased reach of secure communications, improved security and implemented system at a lower cost.
Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe: Incident Response
The Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) required to standardise incident response for IT issues. As Deputy Duty Control Officer (Incident Manager), reviewed, amended and implemented standard operating instruction (SOI). Engaged with Senior Control Officer and established new organisation structure; templated tasks and responsibilities; annotated procedures for high and critical incidents; reviewed SOI and implemented changes to reflect findings; and issued draft to group, receiving feedback. Successfully produced final SOI and issued unit wide, improving delivery of IT Service Management within 3 months.
